Strong contrast of sunlight and intertwining shadow frame this quiet, peaceful scene cast with a warm wooden bench and time worn, moss covered headstones.
This is one of my wife's favorite work, to date. We both love traveling, and were able to make an 'around the world' trip  during the time was Sr Systems Analyst for a Global Labeling company. One of the stops was the Essex, England area. While on our way to see Stonehenge with our friends, Marc and Jackie, we visited a small village church. I have forgotten the name of the village... I need to look in my journal, oh well... Behind the church was a wealth of inspiration. If I recall, I took 2 or 3 rolls of photographs. The courtyard was full of beautiful stuff, ivy, old brickwork, head stones from ages past, patches of sunlight and shadow. I was entranced. Marc and Jackie were asking Jo what had come over me. Why was I pacing all over the place taking pictures of this or that? Jo explained that she used to ask the same questions until she saw the paintings later. She explained that I see the design in the items. The shape, contrast and color. Anyway, as I was wandering back and forth the sun came out from behind a cloud and lit up this small wooden bench strategically placed against the head stones along the wall. Jo and I saw the scene at the same time and knew it would always be one of our fondest memories.
